Unit 3: Post production techniques

Post production techniques

Editing techniques

Lastly the technique shown here is montage editing, A video montage is a collection of brief video clips that have been put in order to tell a story. This montage shows numerous sequences that develop the plot edited together to heighten suspense. It builds suspense on the audience before it cuts to the protagonist and the music.

Sound techniques

To fade from the last clip to the credits, we had used an audio transition "exponential fade". Paired with the sudden cut in the film it can show the film is coming to an end and leaves the audience in shock and awe. The exponential fade is a very practical yet sometimes disregarded transition. This fade operates by gradually adjusting the volume, then exponentially speeding up the adjustment until it is complete. This transition has unique use because of its exponential slope.

Graphics/text editing

Here, the director's name is typically shown as an overlay on the video, notifying the spectator of who directed the film, which is generally rather relevant. This is commonly used in popular movies like Thor and the Fast and the Furious series, further demonstrating how frequently popular movies like Thor and the Fast and the Furious series subtly employ this. This is also done with the writers.

Here is shown a rolling credits, of the cast, they In the past, film credits were printed on a roll of paper and then scrolled past the camera. Thus, "roll credits" was the command to begin the credits.
