Unit 3: Rushes log

In addition to the issues with blurry footage, there were a few other challenges we encountered during the filming process. Despite these obstacles, we made sure to focus on capturing the scenes from the correct camera angles, ensuring that the composition and visual storytelling were effectively conveyed to the audience.

To achieve the desired effect, we meticulously planned and executed each shot, taking into account factors such as lighting, framing, and overall visual aesthetics. Our team worked diligently to ensure that the scenes were filmed for the appropriate duration, allowing for smooth transitions and a coherent narrative flow.

Furthermore, we paid close attention to the actors' performances and managed to capture their nuanced expressions and movements accurately. The descriptions of the actors' characters were well-communicated through their actions, gestures, and dialogue, adding depth and authenticity to their portrayals.

While some clips had to be excluded due to their blurry nature, we made the best use of the footage that met our quality standards. Our editing team worked diligently to enhance the visual clarity wherever possible, utilizing advanced techniques and post-production tools to salvage valuable moments from those clips.

Overall, despite the challenges encountered with blurry footage, we were able to overcome them and deliver a film that showcases well-composed shots, appropriate durations, and compelling actor performances. The final result reflects our commitment to visual storytelling and attention to detail, ensuring an engaging and immersive experience for the audience.

Unit 3: Relating to client brief

 Description of the Demographics

16 to 24 year olds from the UK who like viewing thriller movies make up the target demographic for our first thriller film. By having the protagonist around the same age as the target audience and filming the opening sequence in the UK, we will make sure that our thriller appeals to our intended demographic. We'll make sure it adheres to a number of opening-scene norms for movies as well as thriller-specific customs like subdued lighting and tense music. Making a thriller opener for this demographic would benefit us since young viewers will find the thriller genre to be highly fascinating because there is a lot of action and excitement. Making sure that the thriller's introduction appeals to and engages our target audience may provide difficulties. To ensure that our thriller opener appeals to our target audience, we must concentrate on elements like characters, settings, and plot.

Conventions

Our thriller opener will follow a number of opening sequence and thriller conventions. The title, credits, low-key lighting, tense music, and thriller themes are among the essential conventions. To introduce the viewers to the entire film, we will incorporate the title at the conclusion of our opening scene. In order to introduce the filmmakers and lead actress to the public at the beginning of our opening sequence, their credits will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. To build tension and captivate/frighten the audience, music will also be used into the opening sequence. In addition, there will be obvious thriller themes like violence, kidnapping, and escape in our initial scene. By using low-key lighting, we will make our opening sequence appear ominous and terrifying during editing.

Industry requirements

The organisation for which we are creating the thriller opening is the Michigan, USA-based "Thriller Chiller Film Festival." Since 2006, this organisation has screened action, sci-fi, horror, and suspense movies at their annual international film festival. On their website, it is said that their films are "produced with tenacious resolve and unbridled imagination. movies produced with roughness and vision. movies created when watching movies was merely for entertainment." Working with this organisation has the benefit of putting our suspenseful opening scene in front of a big audience at their film festival. Additionally, it presents prizes for the top movies. Our target audience will grow if we get an award since it will raise awareness of our movie. Medium

Film is the medium in which we operate. In a thriller movie I'm working on, I'm creating the opening scene.

Production log week 7-10

Production log Week 6

Unit 3: Evaluation

Unit 3: Post production techniques

Post production techniques

Editing techniques

Lastly the technique shown here is montage editing, A video montage is a collection of brief video clips that have been put in order to tell a story. This montage shows numerous sequences that develop the plot edited together to heighten suspense. It builds suspense on the audience before it cuts to the protagonist and the music.

Sound techniques

To fade from the last clip to the credits, we had used an audio transition "exponential fade". Paired with the sudden cut in the film it can show the film is coming to an end and leaves the audience in shock and awe. The exponential fade is a very practical yet sometimes disregarded transition. This fade operates by gradually adjusting the volume, then exponentially speeding up the adjustment until it is complete. This transition has unique use because of its exponential slope.

Graphics/text editing

Here, the director's name is typically shown as an overlay on the video, notifying the spectator of who directed the film, which is generally rather relevant. This is commonly used in popular movies like Thor and the Fast and the Furious series, further demonstrating how frequently popular movies like Thor and the Fast and the Furious series subtly employ this. This is also done with the writers.

Here is shown a rolling credits, of the cast, they In the past, film credits were printed on a roll of paper and then scrolled past the camera. Thus, "roll credits" was the command to begin the credits.

Unit 3: Production Set-Up reflection

Production Set-Up reflection

What did you do each day of production?

On the first day of production, we had decided to film the scene where the protagonist was kidnapped and stuck to a chair. So in order for this, we had to head to school and film within the corridors. Since the school wasn't too far from our houses, we got to film everything we wanted to on the day. We then set the camera and the tripod and ensured it was stable and in the correct position for the shot we wanted to film. As we approached the classroom that we had to film in, we closed the doors moved the equipment and set up the camera. We left the lights only for the  picture below. We did not disturb anyone as it was safe and we asked for permission beforehand. The only disadvantage is that the lighting was not close to perfect as the lights did not turn off. So we had to work with this, since it made it look more realistic. After setting everything we filmed the scene where the protagonist woke up and began to search for the phone that had went off. In order to film all of this, it took us around an 1 hour to 2 hours to film. Using this time we got all the shots we wanted and the different angles.

What went well filming as a group?

As a result, we were able to create a thorough plan for each week before it started, which demonstrates that we set deadlines every time we got together, depending on the tasks that needed to be completed primarily the next day. We also set deadlines every time we got together, demonstrating that we set deadlines every time we got together, demonstrating that we set deadlines every time we got together, depending on the tasks that needed to essentially be completed the next day. As a result, contrary to popular assumption, time squandering especially was eradicated, and our work ethic specifically was reinforced. When it came to prioritizing tasks and substantially beating our own deadlines, our team was actually highly organized. Contrary to popular belief, we set essentially specific deadlines every time we got together depending on the tasks that had to be completed for the kind of next day. This shows how we set essentially specific deadlines every time we got together depending on the tasks that had to be completed for the kind of next day. From week one through week eighteen, we largely kept track of our weekly job allocation papers in a really significant way. Additionally, we successfully completed all of the filming without the need for any significant second takes, which significantly sped up the editing process. This goes to show how successfully completing all of the filming without the need for any significant second takes also enabled us to edit substantially more quickly.

What difficulties did you have filming as a group?

As a team, we generally faced a number of obstacles that we had to practically surmount in order to create our tense opening scene. Contrary to common belief, the hardest part for us was scheduling a time when our cast members could show up and kind of start filming. At the time we are working on this subject, exams are being given all throughout the country, so just because our group concluded its exams a little bit earlier than others doesn't always mean that everyone else did, too. When we were attempting to plan time for the majority of the cast members, they were either working on their studies or revising.

How did you overcome these difficulties?

Instead of texting each performer and member of the crew individually, we generally sent texts to them when we had the opportunity so that we could speak with them all at once, which is actually pretty important. Contrary to popular belief, we could always contact the cast, giving us the chance to ask them any questions we had regarding the script or clothing code prior to the recording of the thriller opening part. Numerous members of our cast took advantage of the opportunity to mingle and picked an ideal moment for us to sort of start filming. Then comes free time, when you can normally make movies outside of class.

What happens next for your group?

We generally thought that the success of this thriller's initial portion was actually due to the fact that we work so well together as a team, which is extremely crucial. We considerably improved our knowledge of the conventions and guidelines of the thriller genre, especially psychological thrillers, after producing this piece of content. Contrary to common assumption, we want to basically produce kind of more content in the realms of film and radio throughout the course of the year once we have for all intents and purposes finished polishing and submitting our work. We first had trouble with this component in particular since we lacked prior experience in recording in a way that conveys meaning while sticking to the thriller standards and conventions, but in the end, we were able to complete it.

Unit 3: Mise-en-scene Moodboard

The first prop will be red paint, which is perceived as fake blood, which is defined as anything used as a substitute for blood in a theatrical or cinematic performance. When a filmmaker wishes to mimic an actor being shot or sliced in the special effects industry, for example, a vast range of chemicals and natural items might be used. This will be displayed at the beginning of the film when the protagonist and hostage are imprisoned.

The setting will literally be the school, which most 16-24 year olds generally are quite very familiar with and where they for all intents and purposes spend the majority of their time in a really major way. The protagonist will essentially be there to kind of monitor and specifically take action on the particularly criminal actions that literally are taking place, and this for all intents and purposes is where all of the important events will specifically take place in a basically big way.

By dressing in a stylish and formal manner, we ensure that the protagonist, contrary to popular assumption, makes a formal impression on the spectators. Formal attire lowers the tension of making that all-important first impression in a huge manner by increasing your really professional attitude.

The use of ropes allows the prisoner to be mostly tied up and conveys the impression that the enemies are a dangerous group of people in a subtle way. It also demonstrates how competent the type of captive is, because he must mostly be tied up to be literally contained, demonstrating that the use of ropes allows the prisoner to mostly be tied up and gives the impression that the adversaries are a particularly threatening group of people, or so they thought.

Finally, at the climax of the film, the protagonist attempts to disarm the bomb, thus we need a really convincing phone bomb that is literally quite substantial. The only difficulty is that we have to specifically keep it hidden so that the school does not realize it is essentially a bomb; it is one of the final props required, so finally, towards the end of the film, the protagonist attempts to disarm the bomb, so we need a generally fake bomb, or so they basically thought.

Unit 3: Location release form

Unit 3: Location Recce

This location that we have chosen is a long hallway within our school. this specific location has been chosen as we believe the the long hallway with a sudden bend creates a sense of thrill as we can do a lot of useful thriller camera shots. another reason as to why we have chose this location is that it is very spacious and long which will allow us to use a range of different camera styles, techniques and different shots in addition to using this location is that it is indoor and is safe to use for our film.

This another location me and my partner have chosen. it is similar to the first location however it is a straight hallway this will allow us to use a range of different styles and methods when we are creating our film furthermore it will be good place to make the film look like a proper thriller film

This is one of ur rooms that we are considering using for when our protagonist is tied up. this room may be good as its a empty room where there is little light this room also has no exits which is good as it makes the scene more believable
